IRICA taking more steps to facilitate imports, combat sanctionsTEHRAN- Since the U.S. re-imposition of sanctions against Iran’s economy, Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) has been taking various measures to facilitate customs process both for exports and imports of the commodities to reduce the effect of sanctions.
IRICA Head Mehdi Mir-Ashrafi says that this round of sanctions is tougher than the previous round; so more strategic actions are needed to nullify them.
As the sanctions may make the country face shortage of basic goods, the government and IRICA have taken various measures to avoid such condition.
One major action is facilitating condition for the importers of the basic commodities, for example providing them necessary foreign currency through NIMA (Iran’s Forex Management Integrated System).

Capacity of Iran’s rail freight transport to rise 5m tonsTEHRAN – Head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (known as RAI) says the country’s rail freight transportation capacity is going to increase by five million tons in near future, IRIB reported.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 4th edition of Iran’s Logistics, Transportation, and Related Industries Exhibition (IRAN TRANS EXPO 2019) on Monday, Saeed Rasouli said: “By connecting Jalalabad mine and Zarand Steel Complex, in Kerman Province, to the national rail network more than five million tons of new capacity will be added to the country’s rail freight transportation.”
According to the official, in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-August 22), 432 new freight wagons, locomotives, and passenger wagons were added to the nation's rail fleet, all of which were manufactured by domestic factories.

Iranians welcome dual-fuel cars as gas prices riseTEHRAN – Head of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) says since the implementation of the gasoline rationing scheme and the increase in the prices, people are leaning more toward dual-fuel cars.
“The demand for converting single-fuel cars into dual-fuel ones has also grown due to the rationing and rising gas prices,” Amir Vakilzadeh said in an interview with the state TV on Sunday night.
According to the official, since the implementation of the rationing program in mid-November, over 70,000 people have registered their cars for dual-fuel conversion.
“Fortunately, in the past two years we have been preparing the infrastructure needed to implement such a program and, using our previous experiences, we have designed a system for this purpose,” Vakilzadeh said.
